We have an incredibly talented music coming to the Royal Bean this coming Saturday! It truly will be worth your trip to enjoy the live music and the special atmopshre that only the Royal Bean Coffee House can provide.  Please take the time to follow the links to listen to the music from ‘Neil Gribbs’.  You’ll love it!

Neil Gribbs will be performing live on February 26th, 2011

Short Bio:
“Neil Cribbs began playing music at the age of five. He played instruments such as violin, piano, trombone, and drums. Early in his life he primarily was influenced by symphonic music and groups from the 60s such as Cat Stevens, the Beatles, and James Taylor. After finding his mother’s guitar in the attic he began exploring the world of Alternative Country and Americana. Bands such as Whiskytown, Uncle Tupelo, Ryan Adams, Wilco, Sonvolt, Richard Buckner and the Old 97s paralleled with Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco, Beth Hart, John Prine, and Taj Mahal. After recording an album entitled “35 Sound Start” in 2006 the press, almost immediately, sold out. His newest album “Marionette” has been getting rave reviews from the media. Neil performs his haunting and moving yet distinctly Southern songs using the traveling troubadour’s tools of choice: an acoustic guitar, a harmonica, and his soulful voice.”

Performing Live:

Amanda Smith and Ryan Armstrong

Start at 8PM until 10 PM.

BIO:

Amanda Smith and Ryan Armstrong have been playing music together for about 7 years, individually and together in different collaborative projects.  The majority of their material ranges from folk ballads to experimental rock, with plenty of adventurous improvisation between the two.  The pair of musicians began playing music in Rocky Mount, outside of a local Dunkin Donuts.  While perhaps an unlikely venue for musical endeavors, this meeting place provided the duo with lots of exposure, leading directly to their very first shows together, in Rocky Mount and elsewhere.

These songwriters have played their music all over the triangle as well, including venues such as The Local 506, Jack Sprat, Nightlight/The Skylight Exchange, Blend, Oliver Twist, Caribou, Starbucks, and inside or outside just about any coffee shop—even under parking garages!  The two are influenced by many artists, including Radiohead, Deathcab for Cutie, The White Stripes, Ryan Adams, Jewel, The Silversun Pickups, Smashing Pumpkins, Bright Eyes, Coldplay, and Bob Dylan, just to name a few.

The two formerly played in a trio called HoldHandsandRun, which was the original project for Amanda and Ryan’s collaborative musical endeavors.  The music heard at the Royal Bean on December 11th 2010 will be the old material of HoldHandsandRun, as well as new original tunes from each Amanda and Ryan, and also a few songs paying tribute to those that have influenced their music.
